On Friday afternoon, the Bears showed just how far they’ve distanced themselves from PSAA competition with a 23-0 mercy-shortened victory over Portledge. Combined with routs for the girls’ lacrosse and badminton teams, the victory helped the Bears win Portledge Day, 3-2, over our rivals.
The game was over before it really got started as the first five Bears reached base, and four runs lit up the scoreboard before Portledge recorded the first out. For the sake of time and space, here is a list of the damage wrought by The Brook in a 13-run first inning:

- Isaiah Gibbs – Single – 2-0

After the Bears sent 19 batters to the plate in the top of the inning, Nick Parker worked around an error to face the minimum, thanks to a 3-6-3 double play from Marino to Ruiz. The Bears walked twice in the top of the 2nd, but failed to score, but were back at the plate in a blink as Parker ran through the three batters he faced with just nine pitches to move the game to the 3rd.
The Bears hung six more runs in the 3rd, punctuated by three consecutive RBI doubles from Franco, Charboneau, and Marino, before Parker threw up another zero in the bottom half on the way to a shutout victory.
