Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ and boys’ swim teams sank Friends Seminary, 43-36 and 47-40, respectively, to cap off a lively Senior Day in Swanson Natatorium.
Highlighting the effort was a strong 200 free swim by Brooke Shteierman that qualified her for the Easterns Championships and a lifetime best 500 free effort by Christian Duryea-Kelly, who has lowered his top time in three consecutive races.
One of the best swims of the meet was Brooke Shteierman’s 200 yard freestyle. Brooke put in a lot of hard work this season to meet her goal of qualifying for Easterns. She was a little over a second off qualifying after our fall meet season. Brooke made the commitment to put the work in and do all she could to achieve her goal. Brooke consistently came to morning practices and believed in her coaches, and herself. It was truly a highlight of the season to watch all of that work and trust pay off. Brooke made both the Easterns and the NYSAIS cut and we’re really excited to see how fast she swims at both championships.Coach Laura Donlevy
The girls took first in every event, while Oliver Griffin (100 free & 100 breaststroke) and Gavin Paton (50 free) brought home top finishes for the boys.
The Bears are back in the pool on Monday in a match-up at Sacred Heart.
