Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader from Tigers

On Saturday afternoon, the girls’ tennis team traveled to Staten Island Academy for a league match doubleheader with the Tigers and returned over the Verrazzano Bridge with a pair of 5-0 sweeps that saw the Bears compile a combined game score of 120-7.

In the first match, Carino Cristobal (6-1, 6-0), Sarah Arrieta (6-1, 6-0), and Alanna Wu (6-0, 6-0) swept singles, while Isabel Guo and Ali Cristobal (6-0, 6-0) and Lyla Petroske and Fiona Rivas (6-1, 6-0) took the doubles matches.

In the second match, Carina, Sarah, and Alanna did not drop a single game in their 6-0, 6-0 singles victories, while Isabel and Ali swept first doubles and Sam Cox and Lyla closed off the win, 6-3, 6-1.

The wins were the Bears’ 20th and 21st consecutive league victories. They have not dropped a regular season match since joining the PSAA in 2018. The Blue & White is back in action on Thursday in a home match-up with Solomon Schechter.
