On Saturday, amid five knot winds in glistening Port Jefferson Harbor, the dinghy sail team claimed the NYISA-SE League Fleet Championship in a field of seven schools.
Six races were sailed in Division A and Division B for a total of 12 on the day. The Division A crew of Steven Hardee and Sean Beaver took 1st place in two races, were runners-up in three, and nabbed a 3rd place mark to close with 11 points and a 2nd place finish in the Division. Mairead Reitzel and Gavin Hudson piloted their way to the top spot in Division B with five 1st place finishes and one runner-up to accumulate a scant 7 points. The Bears’ 18-point total across the two crews gave the Brook a five-point cushion over rival Rye High School for the victory.
