On Saturday, Colin Scanlon ’21 helped Claremont-Mudd-Scripps earn a victory in the 4×400 meter relay at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet held in Claremont, CA.
The freshman teamed up with Massimo Bertini, Kai Dettman, and Timi Balogun to cross the line in 3:22.94 for a comfortable margin over 2nd place Biola (3:26.74). The former Bear was also a runner-up in the 400 hurdles in 57.48, just 0.37 off the pace of the unattached Octavio Moreno. Though the season is early, Scanlon currently holds the fastest 400 hurdle time in all of Division III with a full second buffer over Occidental’s Jonah Magill (58.79). Scanlon’s 57.48 mark would have also been the second-fastest time in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) last year as well as the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA Division III West Region.
Scanlon and the Stags are back in action on Saturday when they host the Rossi Relays.
