This afternoon at 3:50pm, Colin Scanlon will compete in the 400 hurdles at the NYSPHSAA Track & Field Championships, held in Middletown.
The sophomore earned a spot in the meet as a Federation qualifier after earning the automatic bid with his victory in the NYSAIS Championship. His mark of 56.81 not only earned the Bears’ fourth individual track & field state championship in school history, but left him just .01 away from Luke Conti’s 1996 school record.
Scanlon’s seed time slots him at 10th out of 19 entries in Division II, in close proximity to several runners to chase for a top-six medal position. He is one of only two sophomores in a field of juniors and seniors.
