Yesterday afternoon, on a warm day at Randall’s Island’s Icahn Stadium, Colin Scanlon became the Bears’ latest individual State Champion, taking the 400 meter hurdle crown at the 21st Annual NYSAIS Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He becomes the fourth track & field State Champion in school history.
The sophomore turned in a career best mark of 56.81, pulling away from runner-up Josh Saha of Hackley by 1.34 seconds. His time was just .01 seconds off of Luke Conti’s school record mark set in 1996 and is currently 11th in America among sophomores. The win also earned Scanlon a spot in the New York State Federation Championships on June 7 against the best from the public, private, and catholic school leagues.
