On This Day in History | 2006

On this day 13 years ago, Nate Kenney ’01 provided a memorable highlight during the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Semifinals.

Kenney and the fifth-ranked Syracuse Orange fell to top-ranked and eventual National Champion Virginia, 10-17, but the former Bear provided the highlight of the day.

With 4:21 left in the third quarter, the senior midfielder unleashed a left-handed rocket that tore a hole in the right corner of the Virginia net, causing a delay while officials mended the opening. Kenney’s unassisted score brought ‘Cuse within 8-12, but the Cavaliers responded with three unanswered goals to seal the victory.
