On this day 55 years ago, Robin Lingle ’60 and the Missouri University two mile relay team took the title at the Chicago Daily News Relays.

In front of 18,307 in attendance at Chicago Stadium, Lingle, Larry Ray, Charles Conrad, and William Rawson paced the field in 7:31.3, the second-fastest time in meet history.

Later that indoor season, Lingle went on to win Big Eight Conference Championships in the 1,000 yard run (2:11.7) and mile (4:10.0).
