On This Day In History | 2005

February 9, 2019

On this day 14 years ago, the boys’ basketball team won the outright League VIII title in a 60-55 overtime win over Mercy.

With the game deadlocked at 55-55 in the extra period, freshman Mitch Singer drilled a 3-pointer with 57 seconds left, then hit a pair of foul shots to seal the victory and a 12-2 league season for the Brook. Peter Carmel led the way for the Brook with 23 points and 14 rebounds.

The league title was the sixth in program history to go along with championships in 1974, 1975, 1993, 1994, and 2003.
