Etienne Skies to Tyson Invite Title

Etienne in action earlier this season (PC: Indiana)
On Saturday afternoon, Jyles Etienne continued his sensational sophomore season for the Indiana men’s track & field team with a victory at the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Etienne passed at the first two heights (6′ 5.5″ & 6′ 7.5″) before clearing 6′ 9.5″ on his first attempt. He then passed at 6′ 11.5″ to move on to 7′ 0.5″ with just two other jumpers in a field of eleven. On his first attempt he cleared the 7-foot barrier for the fifth time as a Hoosier to earn his 4th invitational victory of the season and the 6th in his collegiate career. He moved on to 7′ 3.25″ but missed on his three attempts at a personal best.
Etienne is currently second in the Big Ten standings behind only Nebraska’s Mayson Conner (7′ 3.5″). The Hoosiers are back in action next weekend at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame in their final tune-up before the Big Ten Championships.
