On Saturday, the girls’ varsity basketball team evened their league record at 1-1 with a decisive 45-15 victory over Avenues in Manhattan. It was the team’s first win in the Private Schools Athletic Association.
The Bears jumped out to a commanding 19-3 first quarter lead and closed with a 12-0 final frame to bookend a dominant effort. Beth Felix led all scorers with 29 points (three 3-pointers) to go along with 10 of the team’s 21 steals in her first action of the season. Niamh Scanlon (8), Wura Obasanjo (4), Ava McCormick (2), and Allie Bunn-Livingstone (2) rounded out the scoring.
