Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ soccer team improved to 4-1 in PSAA play with a 6-0 win over Long Island Lutheran to complete a season sweep over the Crusaders. Beth Felix led the way for the Brook with three goals for her first career hat trick.
Felix put the Bears on the board in the 18th minute with an unassisted score. Donna Sanders followed 10 minutes later with a goal, aided by Bekah Herts, to give the Brook a 2-0 edge at the break.
Felix put the game out of reach early in the second half with a pair of goals in the fourth and eighth minutes, courtesy of a pair of assists from Madison Logan. Sarah Hull added another in the 16th minute off a pass from Sanders before Sanders capped the onslaught in the 34th minute thanks to Logan’s third assist. Sarah Hull (4 saves) and Sophia DiLavore (2 saves) combined for the shutout in goal.
With the win, the Bears maintain their hold on second place in the PSAA East behind Portledge (5-0).
Sanders currently leads all scorers in the PSAA with 12 goals while Felix is in second place on the scoring list with eight. The Bears are back in action on Friday in a non-league match-up at Avenues.
