On Tuesday afternoon, the girls’ volleyball team clinched at least a share of the PSAA East Division title with a 3-0 victory over Long Island Lutheran. Yesterday afternoon, the Bears clinched the outright title with a 3-1 win at Our Savior, earning their second consecutive regular season championship in two different leagues. The win was an historic one as it marked the first ever PSAA championship in school history in our first season in the new league.
The Blue and White came out swinging, taking the first two sets by the lopsided scores of 25-8 and 25-10. They experienced a 23-25 setback in the third frame, marking the first dropped set of the season for the Bears who had won 23 consecutive, but they righted the ship in the fourth set with a decisive 25-12 win.
Bekah Detwiler powered the Bears with 9 kills while Liz Robbins notched 7 aces and 4 kills. The Bears can complete their second consecutive undefeated league season with a Senior Day win next Friday vs. Kew-Forest (1-4).
