On Tuesday, the girls’ swim team lost a close meet to Sachem East, but the story of the day was another record-breaking performance from Madi Sargent.
Sargent set her second school record of the season, besting Colleen Smith’s 1988 mark of 1:00.01 in the 100 butterfly, becoming the first Bear to ever go under one minute in 59.71. The freshman now owns four individual records and is a part of all three relay records.
Sargent won two events on the day along with Rebecca Crane, while Ruthie Crane won the 500 freestyle with a personal best time. The Cranes and Sargent joined forces with Sarah Vincent to win both the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
The Bears are back in action on Thursday in a home match-up with St. John the Baptist.
