LIotine bowls over a Ram (PC: Newsday)
This evening, the Stony Brook University football team got off to a great start in the first game of a scheduled six-year series against Fordham as the Seawolves prevailed in the Bronx, 28-6.
Don Liotine ’13 and teammate Jordan Gowins powered a ground game that outgained the Rams an astonishing 311 yards to -7. Liotine racked up 106 yards, his second consecutive week above 100, punctuated by a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half to put the Brook up 28-0 and all but seal Fordham’s fate. The run gave the former Bear the sixth 100-yard rushing game of his college career.
With the win, the Seawolves, currently ranked 24th in the nation, improve to 2-1 and 2-0 vs. FCS competition. They open their CAA Conference slate next Saturday in a home match-up with Richmond.
