On this day four years ago, Charles Tankeh won the Class B 100 and 200 meter crowns at the Suffolk County Track & Field Championships.
The sophomore took the 100 final in 11.00 and the 200 in 22.18 to join Taylor Colucci (in 2010 and 2011) as the only sprinters in school history to complete that double victory at Counties.
In the 100, Tankeh was the only Class B runner to qualify for the finals, giving him the county crown in his class. He went on to finish 6th overall in the county with a run of 11.36. In the 200, Tankeh was again the only Class B runner to qualify out of the prelims to take the crown.
He went on to take 3rd in the 100 at the New York State Championships while setting a school record in 10.84.
