This afternoon, the New York State Sportswriters Association released its girls’ basketball All-State selections. Junior Beth Felix earned a spot on the Class C 5th Team, becoming the first girls’ basketball player to earn All-State recognition since Brannon Burke in 2011.
Felix averaged 20.6 points per game this season, good enough for 10th place in Suffolk County, and connected on 57 three-pointers, the second-most in Suffolk, while garnering All-County and League MVP honors. She also became just the sixth girls’ player in school history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Felix’s outstanding play helped the Bears earn their first postseason berth since 2013, where they upset second-seeded Pierson, thanks in large part to her 24 points and numerous clutch buckets.
Felix was the only Suffolk County player to make the list in Class C and one of just two players from Long Island out of nearly 80 players to make the list.
