Hanchett unleashes a shot in the ’95 County Final
On this day 23 years ago, the boys’ lacrosse team rolled over Babylon, 8-1, in a Division II match-up. Jim Bickley led the way with four goals and Liam Banks added 2, while Spencer Niebuhr and Sam Hanchett each added a score to help the Bears improve to 9-0 on the season.
The Bears led by a narrow 2-0 margin at the half, but erupted for 3 goals in the third and fourth quarters to seal the romp. The Panthers mustered their lone score in the fourth quarter. Derek Kenney made 9 saves in goal.
The Bears went on to finish the season 16-3 and win a second consecutive Suffolk County Championship before falling to eventual State Champion Manhasset in the Long Island Championship in sudden death overtime.
