Yesterday afternoon, the badminton teams traveled to Smithtown West for a key League II match-up. The boys emerged with a 6-3 win to remain in 1st place with a 6-1 record, ahead of Smithtown East (5-2) and Walt Whitman (4-2). They are now 10-3 overall and one victory away from equaling the program record for wins, achieved a year ago. The girls fell, 3-6, and move into a tie for second place in the league with Smithtown West at 4-3.
The boys took four of five singles matches thanks to great performances from Jerry Liu (15-10, 15-6), Tony Yu (13-15, 15-11, 15-8), Ulysses Zhang (15-9, 15-0), and Kevin Zhang (15-5, 15-2). The doubles tandems of Jack Yu and Caleb Spreckels (9-15, 15-13, 15-9) and Sam Han and Sam Wong (15-4, 15-7) sealed the win for the Brook.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday in a key home match-up with Miller Place.
