On this day 29 years ago, Doug Alioth ’88 scored the game-winning run in Messiah College’s 7-6 victory over Gettysburg.

With the game knotted at 5-5 entering the top of the 9th inning, Alioth singled and came around to score, giving the Falcons a 6-5 lead. The Bullets would tie the game in their half of the 9th to move the game to extra innings. After a scoreless 10th, Alioth led off the 11th inning with a walk, moved to third after a walk and a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a single to left for the winning margin.
