On This Day in History | 2010

On this day eight years ago, Sadie Singer became the fourth player in girls’ basketball history to score 1,000 career points in a 63-7 win over the Ross School.

Singer drained the first shot of the game, a 3-pointer, to give her 1,002 points and a place alongside Rebecca Fischer ’99, Kristyn Dunleavy ’07, and Danielle Spiliotis ’09 in Stony Brook lore. Singer finished with 13 points and 4 assists while Emily Carmel added 12 points as the Bears improved to 9-0.

The Bears would go on to win a sixth straight League Championship, a fifth straight County Championship, and a second straight Long Island Championship later that season.
