As 2017 eases into 2018, a historic year for Stony Brook athletics comes to a close.
Thrilling games were pulled out, school records were felled, and championships were won thanks to the incredible plays of Blue and White student-athletes.

#10 | Logan Uses Post to Beat Mercy | September 1st
Madison Logan scores the first goal of the season, firing a shot off the left post from the right edge of the box to stake the Bears to a 1-0 lead in their 2-1 win over Mercy.
#9 | Lee-Maeba Strikes from Deep | September 12th
Leka Lee-Maeba fights off two Southold defenders and drills a perfect shot from outside the box to give the Bears a 3-2 edge over Southold.

Jai Narain fires a long ball into the left side netting in the Suffolk County semifinals.
#7 | Detwiler Seals 1st League Title | October 16th
Bekah Detwiler caps a lengthy final point as the volleyball team overcomes a 21-24 deficit in game three to sweep Pierson and clinch the program’s first League Championship.
#6 | Felix & Lee-Maeba Kill Devils | October 12th
The Bears top Class B power Center Moriches for the first time since 2009 thanks to 2 goals and 2 assists from Leka Lee-Maeba and a goal and an assist from Beth Felix. The two connect on the match’s last goal with 10:42 left when Lee-Maeba heads home a gorgeous free kick from Felix.

Owen Sobel’s individual effort gives the Bears a 2-1 lead over Greenport under the lights.
#4 | Sargent Wins 200 Free League Title | October 25th
8th-grader Madi Sargent continues a remarkable first season with the Bears by winning two individual league titles in the 500 free and the 200 free in school record times. She wins the 500 free by over a body length, but edges out Sayville’s Megan Donelly by just 0.17 seconds in the 200 free after trailing at each of the race’s seven turns.

The Bears are holding on to a shrinking seven-point lead in the Suffolk County Championship when Jyles Etienne takes a full-court pass from John Eshirow, slams it home, and draws the foul to put the Bears up by ten on the way to a 49-35 win and a fifth straight county title.

Emil Vaughn beats the third quarter buzzer to pull the Bears within five points entering the fourth. Vaughn’s miraculous shot helps power the Bears to a 50-47 comeback win over Port Jeff in the Suffolk County semifinals.

Jyles Etienne jumps 7′ 2.5″ to win the St. Anthony’s Invitational with the best indoor jump in America in 2016-17.
