Washington’s Catch #5 Big Ten Play of the Year

The Catch
On September 23rd, Jerome Washington ’12 reeled in one of the catches of the year for Rutgers University, pinning the ball between his heels and the back of his legs before securing it with his hands for a miraculous catch vs. Nebraska. The play lit up social media as ESPN, Fox Sports, Bleacher Report, and other outlets posted clips of the catch across their various platforms. That evening it was the #1 play on SportsCenter’s Top 10.
Yesterday the Big Ten Network named the catch its #5 play of the year on its Top 10 list, beating out plays by Ohio State’s Sam Hubbard, Purdue’s Anthony Mahoungou, Rutgers’ Darnell Davis, Indiana’s Ryan Watercutter, and Wisconsin’s Michael Deiter.
Washington is currently weighing a return to Rutgers for his senior season or entrance into April’s NFL Draft. He has until January 15th to decide.
