Yesterday afternoon the girls’ swim team topped West Babylon, 94-67, after taking first place in nine of eleven events.

It was the Bears’ third consecutive victory over the Eagles since reigniting the program to go along with victories in 2015 (54-40) and 2016 (95-75).

Three different Bears took first in multiple events as Madi Sargent won the 200 freestyle (2:12.42) and 500 freestyle (4:45.04), Rachel Crane the 200 individual medley (2:45.53) and 100 backstroke (1:18.76), and Rebecca Crane the 100 butterfly (1:16.73) and 100 freestyle (1:10.00). Francine Leung was the Bears’ other individual winner, taking the 50 freestyle in 31.99.

The Bears also won two of the three relays as Ruthie Crane, Leung, Anya Caraiani, and Kate Jones won the 200 medley in 2:32.07 and Rachel Crane, Rebecca Crane, Sargent, and Yesenia McKee won the 200 freestyle in 2:06.81.

The Bears are back in the water one week from tomorrow in a home meet with East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson.
