Etienne Clears 7 Feet in Practice

In a practice session yesterday in the Bahamas, Jyles Etienne finally broke the 7-foot barrier in the high jump, a mark he has been trying to crack for over a year. In his final practice before returning stateside from spring break, he cleared 2.15 meters, equivalent to 7′ 0.5″.

The Indiana University-bound senior will come into the spring as the reigning Division, Suffolk County, and New York State Champion. He was also the runner-up at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals and finished the season as the 6th-best junior in America with a top leap of 6′ 11″.
