The girls’ cross country team looked strong today as they began their defense of two consecutive County Championships by sweeping perennial rival Southold, 15-40, at the Indian Island course in Riverhead.
Freshman Miranda Harrigan grabbed first place with a time of 22:29 and was followed in quick succession by Anna Brummeler (23:30), Nicole Gray (25:46), Danielle Sivertsen (26:33), and Lely Garner (26:34) as the Bears placed all five of their scorers ahead of the Settlers. One of the highlights of the day was Nicole Gray’s two-minute improvement over her best time at Indian Island last season.
The girls return to action on September 16 at Indian Island vs. the Ross School.
