Burke & Istrati Too Much For Mercy

The girls basketball team improved to 4-1 in the league with a solid win at Mercy.  The game was close after the 1st quarter (10-7) and at halftime (24-20), but the Bears’ offense found its rhythm in the 2nd half as they outscored the Monarchs 29-17 the rest of the way for a 53-37 win.  Brannon Burke and Natalie Istrati proved to be a dominant tandem as they each recorded double-doubles.  Burke finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Istrati with 18 points and 24 rebounds.  Ariana Odom chipped in 8 points and Jess Winston added 7.  The Bears are currently 2nd place in the league behind Pierson (4-0).

Natalie Istrati is currently 25th on Long Island and 14th in Suffolk County in points per game with 16.4.  She is also 5th on Long Island and 2nd in Suffolk County in rebounds per game with 10… Brannon Burke is 20th in Suffolk County in points per game with 15.8.  She is also 17th on Long Island and 6th in Suffolk County in rebounds per game with 7.3… Jess Winston is 11th on Long Island and 4th in Suffolk County in assists per game with 3.4.  She is also 13th in Suffolk County in 3-pointers with 19.
