
The girls’ basketball team improved to 4-1 in the league with a solid win at Mercy. The game was close after the first quarter (10-7) and at halftime (24-20), but the Bears’ offense found its rhythm in the second half as they outscored the Monarchs, 29-17, the rest of the way for a 53-37 win. Brannon Burke and Natalie Istrati proved to be a dominant tandem as they each recorded double-doubles, Burke with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Istrati with 18 points and 24 rebounds. Ariana Odom chipped in 8 points and Jess Winston added 7. The Bears are currently second place in the league behind Pierson (4-0).
