On this day 46 years ago…

Peter Randall, Glenn Ogden, and the boys’ cross country team continued their remarkable season by running away with the Ivy League Championship, their tenth title in a row and 14th in program history. On an unseasonably warm day, Randall won individual honors for the third consecutive year, becoming the Brook’s only three-time individual Ivy League Champion. In doing so, he lowered Van Cortlandt Park’s 2.5-mile course record for the third time that season, coming across in 12:36. Stony Brook’s Bernard Mumo set a fast early pace and midway through the race Randall took over and never relinquished the lead.
