On Monday afternoon, the badminton team reminded everyone who the top dog is in the PSAA by winning a third straight PSAA Tournament Championship.

It was a full afternoon of playoff badminton as both the semifinal matches and the championship match were played at Long Island Badminton Center in Westbury. The top-seeded Bears faced off with Long Island Lutheran in the first semifinal, which the Blue & White won in a clean sweep. Junwon Seo (15-9, 15-2), Daniel Kim (15-1, 15-11), Irene Qin (15-6, 15-4), Annie Cao (15-1, 15-5), and Rania Lajmi (15-11, 15-6) won singles matches, while Catherine Wang and Hanna Shi (15-3, 15-7) and Emily Yao and Lucas Liu (15-4, 15-6) won doubles matches. The remaining four matches were forfeited by LuHi for an 11-0 Bear win.

On the other side of the bracket, #3 Portledge upset #2 Knox to set up the championship match. In the final, Seo (16-14, 15-), Kim (15-11, 15-1), Wong (15-9, 15-9), and Ariel Yu (15-2, 15-9) won singles matches. The doubles tandems of Aidan Riley and Andrew Wong (15-4, 15-12) and Steven Yu and David Chang (15-7, 15-1) won the doubles matches. Portledge forfeited four additional matches for a 10-1 Bear victory.

The victory gave the Bears a third straight PSAA Tournament title, dating back to 2019 and including two seasons altered by COVID-19. Since entering the league in 2019, the Bears have yet to drop a regular season or playoff match in the PSAA.
