On Friday afternoon, the badminton team cruised past Portledge, 9-2, to close out a third consecutive undefeated season regular, dating back to 2019 and including two seasons altered by COVID-19. Since entering the league in 2019, the Bears have yet to drop a regular season or playoff match in the PSAA. Their victory, along with a resounding girls’ lacrosse win, leaves the Portledge Day overall score knotted at 2-2. The baseball game moved off of that day to May 15 will determine the tiebreaker.
Daniel Kim (15-9, 12-15, 15-7), David Chang (15-8, 15-6), Ethan Rao (15-4, 15-4), Annie Cao (15-1, 15-7), and Merry Ma (15-5, 15-5) won five of the six singles matches. The doubles tandems of Aidan Riley and Andrew Wong (15-5, 15-1), Michael Chen and Bei Bei Huang (15-10, 15-11), Aliee Yang and Nancy Zhang (15-4, 15-9), and Emily Yao and Jason Kim (15-7, 15-1) won four of the five doubles matches to complete the victory.
The Bears move on to the PSAA Tournament on May 15 and look to defend their two consecutive crowns.
