On Wednesday afternoon, the badminton team improved to 5-0 in PSAA play with a 10-1 victory over Knox that clinched the outright PSAA regular season title for the third straight year, dating back to 2019 and including two seasons altered by COVID-19. Since entering the league in 2019, the Bears have yet to drop a regular season or playoff match in the PSAA.
Daniel Kim (8-15, 15-7, 16-14), Junwon Seo (15-2, 15-6), Daniel Wong (15-5, 15-7), Irene Qin (15-9, 15-3), and Annie Cao (15-12, 15-12) took all five singles matches. Daniel’s match-up was an absolute thriller that featured a game-closing four-point run that turned a 12-14 deficit into a 16-14 victory that sent the team spilling onto the court in celebration.
On the doubles side, Aidan Riley and Andrew Wong (15-3, 15-7), Catherine Wang and Hanna Shi (15-10, 15-10), Nancy Zhang and Aliee Yang (15-9, 15-10), and Emily Yao and Jason Kim (15-2, 15-6) capped the victory at doubles.
The Bears can close their third consecutive undefeated season with a victory on Friday over Portledge.
