On Friday afternoon, the girls’ lacrosse team traveled to Locust Valley and returned to campus with a resounding 18-2 victory over Portledge to remain undefeated in league play. Combined with routs for the badminton and baseball teams, the victory helped the Bears win Portledge Day, 3-2, over our rivals.
It didn’t take the Bears long to take control of the contest, building an early lead that grew to 12-2 by halftime. Emily Berger anchored a second-half shutout in goal, while Natalia Pagano tallied 15 points on the day (7 G, 8 A) to lead the offense.
Sydneyanna Giardini (4 G, 5 Draw Controls), Mia Trama (3 G, 4 DC), Sophia Dabbraccio (2 G, 1 A, 2 DC), Ali Puopolo (1 G), Mack Vesey (1 A), and Fiona Rivas (1 A) rounded out the Bears’ scoring. Georgia Apazidis and Caroline Cho each secured a pair of ground balls to lead a strong defensive effort.
