On a balmy Thursday afternoon in Rye, NY, the dinghy sail team won the spring NYISA-SE League Championship for the second straight year.
Sailing out of the American Yacht Club, the Bears deftly plied the waters of the Long Island Sound, earning seven first-place finishes over the 12 races.
Gavin Hudson and Mairead Reitzel dominated Division A with six wins in six races for a combined total of six points. In Division B, Mauro Gonzalez and Amy Li took third place with a first-place mark, a runner-up, a trio of thirds, and a fourth for 16 points. The combined 22-point total gave the Bears the win by 11 points over Mamaroneck.
The victory earns the Bears a place in the MASSA Mallory Qualifiers, held in Toms River, NJ on May 13 and 14. A top-four finish in the event will give The Brook a spot in the National Championship for the second straight spring.
