On Thursday afternoon, the girls’ lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 16-5 victory over Avenues.
The Bears got the scoring started off of the opening draw when Natalia Pagano found the back of the net just 13 seconds into the game. Avenues tied it up at 1-1 two minutes later, and both sides remained deadlocked for nearly 10 minutes until an Aviators’ turnover led to an Ali Puopolo goal. The Bears bulged the net at the 12:22 and 11:05 marks to grab a 4-1 advantage they only built on from there.
Pagano led all scorers with 8 goals and 1 assist, while Sera Prinz notched a hat trick and an assist. The balanced scoring continued with Mia Trama (1 G, 3 A, 8 draw controls, 4 ground balls), Sydneyanna Giardini (1 G, 1 A, 4 DC), Puopolo (1 G, 1 A, 2 GB), Sophia Dabbraccio (1 G, 2 DC, 3 GB), and Mack Vesey (1 G, 2 GB). Emily Berger anchored the defense with 8 saves, while Christy Eugene scooped up 4 ground balls and Caroline Cho 2.
The Bears are back in action on April 22 when they host Poly Prep on Fitch Field.
