Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ basketball team opened their season on the road and returned home from Manhattan with a 46-25 win in their first PSAA match-up.

The Bears jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter thanks to a pair of threes from Niamh Scanlon and Myla Lombardo and two buckets from Ava McCormick. The Aviators bounced back with a 10-9 second frame, but The Brook still carried a 10-point lead into the half.

Scanlon, Jocelyn McCrain, and Scarlett Davey powered the Bears to a 9-2 third quarter, and McCrain canned two 3-pointers in the fourth to help put the game away.

Scanlon and McCrain led all scorers with 15 points apiece, while Lombardo (8), McCormick (4), Davey (2), and Chloe Feldman (2) rounded out the attack.

The Bears are back in action on December 1 when they host Smithtown Christian in non-league action.
