After a challenging September that saw the Gordon College women’s tennis team go 0-7, Caroline Helmer ’22 and the Fighting Scots have surged to a 3-1 record since flipping the calendar to October. After yesterday’s 6-3 win over Curry College, they also earned a place in the first round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs.
On October 3, Helmer and Annette Kim won their No. 1 doubles match, 8-2, to help the Scots turn back Plymouth State, 5-4, in non-conference action.
On Tuesday, the pair joined forces in an 8-4 win that helped Gordon to a 5-4 conference win over Suffolk University.
And yesterday, the Scots punched their postseason ticket with a 6-3 win over Curry, thanks in part to a 6-3 win from Helmer and Kim.
Helmer and the Scots are back on the court on October 18 in the CCC quarterfinals.
