On Thursday afternoon, the tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 5-0 sweep over Long Island Lutheran. The victory was the Bears’ 23rd straight in league play as they remained undefeated in PSAA matches since joining the league in 2018.

Isabel Guo (6-0, 6-0) and Ali Cristobal (6-0, 6-1) ran through No. 2 and No. 3 singles without incident, while the doubles tandems of Sam Cox and Alanna Wu (6-0, 6-0) and Lyla Petroske and Brianna Shinin (6-1, 6-0) were just as dominant.

The highlight of the match was Sarah Arrieta’s gritty win at No. 1 singles against an opponent she had never beaten on the tournament circuit. After winning the first set, 6-4, Arrieta took the second set, 7-5, to complete a Bear sweep.

The Brook is back on the court tomorrow when they travel to Avenues for a PSAA match-up.
