On this day 31 years ago, Jordan Nixon ’88 helped Augustana College improve to 2-0 on the season, in a 41-8 drubbing of Minnesota-Morris, with a 22-yard touchdown catch.
The former Brooker led Division III in average punt return yardage (17.5) during the 1991 season and was also the Vikings’ leading receiver in helping them to an 8-1 record and a CCIW Conference Championship. His sliding touchdown reception with just 47 seconds left in the championship game gave Augustana the 38-35 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
Nixon was later inducted into Augustana’s Athletic Hall of Fame and was named a Stony Brook Hall of Famer in 1997.
