On Friday, Tyler Smith ’21 drove in a run and scored in the 9th inning to help Saint Peter’s University to a 12-6 MAAC Conference win over Iona.
The Peacocks led 8-4 entering the top of the 9th before scoring four more runs to put the game out of reach. Smith contributed on two of those runs as his pinch hit single through the right side and first collegiate RBI increased the lead to 10-4 before he came around to score himself on a Chris Marquart triple.
The following day, Smith had a hit and 2 walks in the Peacocks’ 8-7 rubber match win over Iona. The freshman is hitting .235 on the season with 4 hits, 4 walks, and an RBI. Smith and Saint Peter’s return to the field on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up at Seton Hall.
