On Thursday afternoon, the baseball team exploded for 26 runs in a 26-5 thrashing of Hampton Bays.
The Baymen got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the 1st after putting the Bears down in order in the top half. The Bears struck back in the 2nd when a Sam Ribeiro DiCanio plated Jojo Franco with two outs, but in the 3rd the engine finally turned over for the Blue & White offense. An Aaron Babaev double knotted the score at 2-2 before a Logan Charboneau three-run home run vaulted the Brook into a lead they would not relinquish. Seth Laureano made it back-to-back dingers when he hammered a ball over the left field fence. A Jacob Lippe single capped the inning’s scoring with the Bears ahead, 7-2.
After Alex Baaden pitched a second straight shutout inning, the Bears struck for eight runs in the 4th to put the game out of reach early. A Sebastian Perez single, an Aaron Babaev single, a pair of wild pitches, an E6, and a Jayden Stroman three-run homer provided the inning’s offense.
The Bears cruised from there with two loud punctuations from Franco who hit grand slams in both the 6th and 7th to cement a resounding victory. Babaev and Franco led all hitters with 3 hits. The RBIs came off the bats of Franco (8), Charboneau (4), Stroman (3), Babaev (2), Laureano (1), Ribeiro DiCanio (1), and Lippe (1). Baaden was strong on the mound to earn the win with just 2 hits and 3 strikeouts over 3.1 innings.
