On this day 79 years ago, the basketball ball earned a reprisal over Port Jeff after suffering a 19-24 defeat on January 23. Here is the recap of the game from Res Gestae 1943:
With the memory of the previous defeat still fresh in their minds, a determined Stony Brook team traveled to Port Jefferson resolved to win or die in the attempt. Trailing at the half by eight points, we made a strong comeback and tied it up with less than two minutes to go. Then two long shots by James Graham and a hook shot by Bill Alhouse sewed it up 31-25.
