Simmons

On this day 19 years ago, Lyndsey Simmons ’00 had 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and a run in Oklahoma State’s 17-1 victory over Nicholls State.

The former Bear was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the 1st, which forced home a run for his first RBI. Simmons did the rest of his damage in the Cowboys’ 10-run 8th inning as he recorded two of the team’s nine hits, each for an RBI.

Simmons finished the 2003 season with 43 hits, 27 runs, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 25 RBIs, a .352 batting average, and a .894 OPS to earn Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors. He then became the second Bear to ever be drafted into professional baseball when he was taken by the Montreal Expos in the 14th round of the 2004 MLB Draft.
