On this day 31 years ago, three Bears earned individual crowns at the League VII Wrestling Championship held in Swanson Gymnasium.

Rich Droscoski (105 lbs) earned a 16-4 decision, Jon Forsythe (132 lbs) pinned East Hampton’s Minardi in 4:45, and Tom Cameron (155 lbs) won a 7-3 decision over Burriesci (Hampton Bays) to win weight class titles. In the consolation finals, Michael Kell (91 lbs) pinned East Hampton’s D’Andrea in 4:04 and Brian Banks (126 lbs) won a 9-2 decision over Geerhing (East Hampton) to earn 3rd place finishes.

Tom Cameron was named the meet’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
