The 1926 basketball team

On this day 96 years ago, the basketball team topped Collegiate, 32-20. Here is the recap from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle:

Better all-around playing enabled Stony Brook School for Boys to subject Collegiate School of Manhattan to defeat on the latter’s court yesterday. The score was 32 to 20. The triumph was the Suffolk County boys’ eighth straight of the season. The game was fast and well played with Stony Brook in front by 16 to 13 at the end of the first half.

Edward Silsbe, a Brooklyn boy, led the victorious attack with six field goals. James Durham and George Steenland were also prominent factors in the triumph.
