On this day 15 years ago, Kristyn Dunleavy scored 28 points to lead the girls’ basketball team to a 67-41 win over Shelter Island.
The senior dropped in 17 of her game-high total in the Bears’ 38-11 first half and added 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the game to help the Brook improve to 6-0 in League VIII play. Kaitlyn Siederman added 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the arc.
The Bears went on to finish undefeated in the league that season to win a third straight title before earning Suffolk County and Long Island crowns. Dunleavy would close her career as the second member of the team’s 1,000 Point Club while earning a second All-State selection.
