On Wednesday afternoon, the girls’ basketball team returned from Garden City with a 71-24 non-league victory over Waldorf. Niamh Scanlon (23 points) and Ava McCormick (20) each nearly singlehandedly outscored the Wolverines as they catalyzed the Bear attack.
The Brook jumped out to an early 28-4 lead after the first quarter, behind 14 points from McCormick and 12 from Scanlon, before pushing their advantage to 41-12 at the half on their way to a dominant win.
Myla Lombardo (6 points), Mairead Reitzel (6), Chloe Feldman (4), Tiffany Akinyoade (4), Scarlett Davey (4), Quinn Davey (2), and Evelyn Apazidis (2) rounded out a balanced scoring attack.
The Bears return to the court on Wednesday in a home rematch with Waldorf.
