Before the Christmas holiday, junior Sydneyanna Giardini verbally committed to play Division I lacrosse at Farleigh Dickinson University, making her the second member of the girls’ lacrosse program to commit to a Division I program.
The Longwood HS transfer has yet to play a game for the Blue and White, but there is a level of excitement around her addition to the team this spring after she led her Lax On Elite club team to a semifinal berth in the Brine National Cup, held in Tampa, FL in December. Though her squad fell in overtime to nationally ranked Limitless (Tampa, FL) in the semis, her 5 goals and 7 assists powered the team.
Giardini’s ability to play both the attack and midfield positions will lend the Bears tremendous versatility and yet another strong offensive option for a team that appears poised to make a run at the first championship in program history.
In two years the junior will be a part of Farleigh Dickinson’s newly minted Division I women’s lacrosse team after the metropolitan campus announced the addition of the program in January of 2021. FDU’s Florham campus competes in Division III and has a strong women’s lacrosse history. The Knights are set to play their first season in 2023 as members of the Northeast Conference against Mount St. Mary’s, Wagner, Long Island University, Bryant, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Merrimack, and Central Connecticut.
