On Saturday morning, the girls’ cross country team ran in the Suffolk Officials Invitational at Sunken Meadow, turning in a slew of personal records on the notoriously difficult course and its imposing “Cardiac Hill.” Evelyn Apazidis was the Bears’ top finisher in 21st place out of 124 runners in a personal record time of 23:33. Alexandra Puopolo (86th/27:02), Alice Sun (101st/27:58), Anne-Sarah Nichitiu (109th/28:33), and Eowyn Jeffrey (110th/28:34) also PRed for the Brook.
For the boys, Zack Xu ran to a 46th place (19:49) finish in a field of 157. Forest Kaplan-Walbrecht (87th/20:50), Joe Barisic Cubillas (115th/21:56), Marc Nichitiu (116th/21:57), Nathan Stortz (145th/24:25), and Theo Greenfield (149th/24:57) also ran well for the Bears.
Both teams are back in action on October 21 in a PSAA meet at the Knox School.
